"We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives... not looking for flaws, but for potential."
~Ellen Goodman
Do you enjoy New Year's? I have always had mixed feelings regarding the First of January. I'm excited to start fresh. Yes, I make resolutions, even if I'm not always able to keep them! I enjoy making a list of things that I hope to accomplish, try, or improve. And I happily look forward to spring and all the delights found therein.......can you tell that Scott and I have had a Cranford Marathon?.....590 minutes of delightful English life in one sitting!
In years past, when I was a younger gal, and full of fear (mostly irrational), I dreaded the whole celebration of a new year. I avoided thinking about the future....the future is something that I have no control over. And that frightened me. Silly thing is, it was only on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day that I felt any anxiety. As soon as January the second came, I was back to my old self and excited. Weird, I know. I now thank God for a New Year. I'm truly thankful and anticipating good things to come!
A beginning list of things to accomplish, try, or improve:
daily devotions.....I shall improve
exercise.......must accomplish thrice weekly
school
mothering
French Macron.....shall try to make at home

French......improve for my spring 2010 trip to Parieee...ooh la la
artisan breads.....improve
knitting
gardening.....I shall try to once again to grow a carrot
sewing.....accomplish, try and improve
service
hospitality
Do you have a list? Care to share? Blessings to you in the New Year!

Ooh, I love TV Marathons with the husband! I posted my resolutions on my blog...
And Daily devotions... I definitely need to improve. Do you have a plan for that? I'd love to hear your ideas...
Cranford...love it. I am going to dial it up from Netflix again soon.
We are watching "The Impressionists" right now and it blows me away to think about so many great artists in one place at one time.
New Years is a bittersweet time for me too for some reason. I am usually ready for it by the time it hits and then those resolutions make me crazy. None this year....a couple of new goals maybe which seems different to me for some reason.
Top on my list: Simplify.

Beth, I plan to make daily devotions my numero uno priority....get to know The Word and prayer BEFORE computer time. That's all.....
