Ni'ihau Island

Ni'ihau Island is a 72-square-mile( that's small folks), privately owned island also known as the "Forbidden Island." It is a place sheltered from outside influences. The Hawaiian language is spoken almost exclusively, there aren't any cars, paved roads, hotels, restaurants or even electricity! That means no T.V., no phones, no internet, no nothin'. And the kids there only have to go to school until the eighth grade at which time they become ranch hands or go on to get a higher education at a neighboring island.
