Tradgedy Strikes the Chickadee Family

This is the birdhouse in my backyard that the clothesline is attached to. It has a large family of chickadees living in it; ma and pa and five new babies.

Little mouths to feed. Always crying for more food.

Egg halves. So very tiny, white with red speckles. And O'dog? Clip those nails!

Gasp! Two of the five babies have fallen or were pushed from the nest.

So sad. They were given a proper burial in the garden. Livi made a cross of sticks and string.

Tragic! I just read in a birding book that it is a myth about not being able to put birds back in their nests.. parents will accept them back. Of course, don't put dead ones back in :-(
