"In the door-yard fronting an old farm-house, near the
white-wash'd palings,
Stands the lilac bush, tall-growing, with heart-shaped leaves
of rich green,
With many a pointed blossom, rising, delicate, with the
perfume strong I love....." ~ Whitman

So pretty, Mom! I like the poem, too.
Mmm...my favorite flower! And how appropriate that it almost always blooms in May! Don'tcha think, Mamapua?
Beth...I was thinking the same thing! There's just something special about the month of May isn't there? :o)
Once again something new. I've been thinking for awhile I should look up what lilacs look like.
I remember reading about lilacs in a Nancy Drew book.
Strange, I almost thought they would look more like the flowers on a shower tree.
