A Boy's Life

The Brave Cowboy, by Joan Walsh Anglund is a favorite with Owen. He recently rediscovered it in the book basket and has read and reread it over and over again. For Christmas Owen requested two things: a cowboy outfit with a two holster belt and a hatchet.

He must have been a good boy this year for he was given a hatchet and cowboy clothes for Christmas.

This poor fir tree broke Christmas Eve from the weight of the snow. The tree landed a mere 8 feet from our family room.

The fallen tree was the perfect object to try his new hatchet on. He stood tall and straight....and wielded his hatchet against the foe, that monster fir that threatened his family.

Fearlessly, the chips were flying.

Cheeks were reddened from the frosty air and his heart was fulfilled.

Santa....or more accurately....Nana Claus....provided a first-aid kit just in case of any blood shed. :o)

Noah loves to be a cowboy - we haven't read that book yet, we will have to pick that one up soon. Owen is so CUTE - I'm glad to see there is hope my boy won't grow out of his cowboy loves too soon...and what he wouldn't do for a hatchet!

When I was first meeting all the family, Scott told me about Owen like this, "One time I asked my three year old nephew what he wanted to do, and he said, 'I wanna play in the DIRT with my GUNS!'"

Some things don't change...I love it!

Bwah haha hehe hoho...now that's funny! When Owen was about three he told me he wanted to be a "COP with a GUN in his hand!"

G'ma Shirley gave O'dog the book for his birthday or Christmas at about that age!
