V is for Victory

We all know about my mom's all things french obsession and I guess obsessing runs in the family because I have an obsession of my own. All things retro. I LOVE Rosie the Riveter. I adore 1950's makeup.

It all started when I went to California last summer to visit my dad. He took me to the place where he was going to get his second tattoo. The tattoo parlor was called Seth's Chop Shop and it was also a rockabilly 1950s hair salon. I loved the checkered floors and bright red and green walls. So, for my birthday my dad took me shopping for a retro look. I got a button down top, pedal pusher dungarees, and a pair of black low top Converse. We went back to SCS and I got a pompadour with bandanna hair do and my dad got a men's pompadour. We walked around Balboa Park lookin' like a couple of cool cats.

When I went home I kept up the pomp and bandanna look. In fact, I started a trend at my middle school. Everywhere I looked I saw a pompadour. I guess I am a regular trend setter. :)

But I kinda lost the love for retro as summer faded. That is until I came to paradise! These are the videos that got me excited again. (watch retro glam party makeup and it will lead you to the other cool videos) The maker of these videos is named Amy B. and she is just another lover of all things retro. I am also hooked on the hair style called victory rolls from the 1940's.(watch this video to see what I'm talkin' about.)
After trying really really hard I finally mastered the ancient art of the victory rolls. Is something from the 1940's considered ancient?
I got my shirt at Macy's the other day. Isn't she cute?

Hello Beatrize! Thank you for your kind words.

Postcards was started in Hawaii, USA, when we were on an extended vacation there. Since June of 2008we have been home in the state of Washington, located in the upper northwest of the United States.

My 13 year old daughter did her hair in the victory rolls...very clever girl she is!
